Redmi Note 7 Pro Price, Samsung Galaxy M-Series Launch Date,

Redmi Note 7 Pro price leak, WhatsApp for Android update, and the reveal of Galaxy M-series India launch date were some of the biggest tech news items that dominated this week. Starting with Xiaomi and its sub-brand Redmi, the Chinese manufacturer is getting ready to introduce the international variant of its Redmi Note 7 smartphone in the form the Redmi Note 7 Pro. Although the company is yet to officially announce the same, the company’s Redmi Note 5₹ 10,199 Pro and Redmi Note 6 Pro are pretty good indicators of the fact that Redmi Note 7 Pro is coming to India and several other global markets where Xiaomi currently operates.

Redmi Note 7 Pro price

The Redmi Note 7 Pro was briefly mentioned at the Redmi Note 7 launch event last week, but the company failed to share many details apart from revealing that phone will come with Sony IMX586 primary sensor instead of Samsung ISOCELL GM1 sensor present in the Redmi Note 7.

Earlier this week, the alleged pricing of the Redmi Note 7 Pro phone made its way to Chinese social network Weibo. A Weibo tipster suggested that the smartphone will retail at CNY 1,499 (roughly Rs. 15,800). It is unclear whether it is the starting price of the phone or of a specific storage variant. The tipster also noted that the Redmi Note 7 Pro will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 SoC.

Despite the slowing down smartphone market, Redmi by Xiaomi is quite bullish about the Redmi Note 7. A company executive on Tuesday stated that Redmi is hopeful of selling one million units of the Redmi Note 7 in January alone. Since the company’s first Redmi Note 7 flash sale lasted just over eight minutes, it looks very likely that the company will achieve the milestone.

In more Xiaomi/ Redmi news, the MIUI team recently shared that Android 9 Pie update for Redmi Note 5, Redmi 6 Pro₹ 9,999, Redmi S2 will go into internal testing in the first quarter of this year. The Mi 6X Android Pie update will also enter testing during the same time. However, it is unclear whether the team was just talking about the Chinese phones or their global variants as well.

iPhone X launch: the five most important things from the Apple keynote

It’s September, and that means that there are some new iPhones in town.

Specifically, there were three new phones announced today at Apple’s fall event: the high-end iPhone X, which was the star of the show with a new bezel-less design, OLED screen, and 3D face-scanning tech. There’s also the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, the Apple Watch Series 3 (i.e., the Apple Watch Series 2 with LTE), and the Apple TV 4K (a, um, Apple TV with 4K). Oh, and everything is more powerful and faster, too.

Missed something during all the chaos? We’ve got the details below, along with full coverage of Apple’s newest iPhones and products.

The iPhone X is here

Apple’s new flagship phone is the iPhone X (pronounced “iPhone 10”). As expected from the leaks, there’s an all-new design, featuring what Apple calls a Super Retina display. The new screen is an edge-to-edge 5.8-inch OLED panel with 2436 x 1125 and support for HDR (both Dolby Vision and HDR10).

There’s no home button, with Apple instead using a new 3D scanning system, called Face ID, that unlocks your phone display using facial recognition. There’s also a new A11 Bionic processor that’s more powerful than the previous generation chip, support for wireless charging, and a new animated emoji feature for messaging. The cameras are also upgraded, with dual 12-megapixel rear cameras with dual optical image stabilization, and an improved front camera that supported portrait mode, too. On the battery front, Apple says that the iPhone X will last up to two hours longer than the iPhone 7.

Apple also showed off a new AirPower charging mat that can charge your iPhone X, Apple Watch Series 3, and AirPods (with a new charging case) simultaneously, although the charging pad won’t be out until next year.

The iPhone X comes in two colors: space gray and silver. It’ll come in two storage configurations — 64GB for $999, and 256GB for a whopping $1,149. Preorders will start on October 27th, with shipping set to start on November 3rd.

OnePlus is giving students a 10 percent discount

OnePlus is giving students a 10 percent discount on its smartphone

If you haven’t upgraded your smartphone before making a return to college, OnePlus is now willing to shave 10 percent off the price of its latest flagship, the OnePlus 5. You’ll have to verify that you’re actually a student to receive the coupon code, but it seems like that’s really all there is to it. Once that step’s done, you can save a bit of money and get yourself a device that very few people on campus will have. Jobs

But it’s worth giving some thought to whether the OnePlus 5 is right for you — even marked down. Earlier this month, the company released a new update for the phone that added (electronic) video stabilization to 4K recordings. So OnePlus is at least working to address some of the shortcomings that the 5 shipped with.

Also, the 10 percent comes off your entire order from the OnePlus web store, so it’s up to you whether to just get a phone by itself or add on some accessories. If you’ve already got a OnePlus handset, I guess you could also use it to save on a spare Dash charger or some cases.

The offer is open in the United States, Canada, UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Austria, Belgium, Portugal, Poland, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Croatia, and Hungary. You’ll have a month to use your discount code, but students will be able to redeem the deal once each year while enrolled. The full details can

Android 8.0 Oreo Major Features Details

Admin 11 comments

Android 8.0 officially landed on 21 August, during first total solar eclipse in the US since 1917. The launch was conducted through a livestream. Developers have had access to a preview version of Google’s latest mobile operating system since mid-March, with updated versions releasing in May, June and July. Hints from the code and promotional videos have previously indicated that the operating system could be named Android Oreo or Android Oatmeal Cookie. We now know that Android 8.0 is officially called Oreo.

The Android Oreo presentation at Google I/O revealed a number of new features expected in the latest version of the operating system. New features include icon shapes, dots for notifications, more security options, an autofill fill service, smart text selection, and a picture-in-picture mode. Some of the features were limited to the Pixel phones during the releases of the developer previews. Here is everything that is new in Android Oreo.

User Interface and Experience

Users can now organise notifications into custom channels, and modify the alerts for the entire channel. This can be specifying the sounds if the notification triggers a vibration, and if the notification is allowed to override the do not disturb setting. Developers can specify the importance of notifications, with a weightage from 0 to 4. There are also badges on the applications, known as notification dots that indicate which applications have unread notifications.

Developers can set background colours for notifications, to indicate the nature of the notification. Developers can also create a notification timeout, which is particularly useful for time sensitive alerts. Developers can choose to specify a time period, after which the notification is cancelled if the user does not read it. Users can choose to snooze notifications for a period of time, and the notifications will start appearing after the time period has finished.

An autofill framework in the operating system makes the repeated filling of forms easy for the user. This can range from sign up information to a new service, or credit card information to make a payment. The feature will prevent frustration and repetitiveness by allowing users to quickly fill in a form. Users will have to opt-in for the Autofill framework, after which new and existing applications can make use of the feature.

A new picture in picture mode, which was initially introduced for Android TV is now available on Android-based smartphones as well. The mode is meant mostly meant for videos, so users can continue operating the device without interruptions even while watching a video. One of the earliest applications to use this new feature, is WhatsApp, which had included a picture in picture mode for video calls in the beta version, meant to be rolled out with the launch of Android Oreo. HR Social..

One of the most interesting changes in the UI is the support for adaptive icons. Original Equipment Manufacturers can specify a look and feel for the UI by choosing between various icon shapes. Different shapes can be used on some models. The feat is achieved by applying masks over a base layer. The supported shapes are Circle, Squircle, Rounded Square and Square. Adaptive icons can be created using Android Studio.

New colour management features allows developers to load bitmaps with an extended colour gamut to take advantage of newer devices with displays that support wider colour gamuts. Android O also allows for multiple displays, with users being able to move activity from one screen to another. An App Category feature allows developers to categorise their applications, which will be clustered together when presented to the user. There is also a new Android TV launcher that allows users to configure which channels they want to see on the homescreen. The developers have the option of publishing multiple channels.

Under the hood

Each application is now allocated a cache budget. When the system is low on resources, the applications that exceed the cache budget the most will be the first to have their cached files deleted. Developers can avoid the penalty by making sure that their applications stay within the limit of the cache allocated to them. Developers can use a special request to indicate that they need cache space for especially large files, in which case, Android will clear the cache to accommodate the request.

Content refreshing is now more streamline experienced, as there is now an easier way for applications to check if they are displaying the latest content on the screen. Developers can also set custom triggers to update the content when it is stale or outdated, even without a specific request from the user. There are now background execution limits, to make sure that the applications running in the background are not hogging up an inordinate amount of system resources. There are improvements in the OS that allow developers to comply with these new background execution limits. Post Your Job

Media playback should be significantly improved for users, as now there is fine-grained control to scrub to a particular frame in a video. The MediaPlayer now also has support for DRM protected material. A VolumeShaper functionality allows developers to integrate support for fade-outs, fade-ins and crossfades. Streaming from the device has been improved with the support for MPEG2_TS. Applications can also now mix multiple audio and video tracks at once, for streaming purposes. This is particularly useful for streaming gameplay videos where users can capture the screen, themselves through the front-facing camera, the audio from a game, and any commentary from the user.

Connectivity and security

There is now support for Wi-Fi Aware, an energy-efficient way by which supported hardware can discover and chat with each other without a Wi-Fi hotspot or an internet connection. There is also a support for the new Bluetooth Low-Energy (BLE) 5.0 standard.

A smart sharing feature allows the operating system to guess the context of a photo, and pick the best application to hand the image over to. For example, if the photo of a receipt is clicked, an expense tracking application is pulled up, but if a selfie is clicked, an instant messaging client is handed over the image. The phone learns the behaviour of the user over time, to improve the guesses of the smart sharing feature. A smart copy feature enables similar functionality for text, figuring out if an address, phone number or name of an entity is copied, and directing the copied information to the most relevant application. For example, if an address is selected, a floating toolbar suggests applications, including a maps app, into which the selected text can directly be pasted.

There are some new permissions that are available to developers. Applications can be configured to programmatically answer phone calls, which may allow for a new type of applications to use the added functionality. Android has normal and dangerous grades of permissions, for security purposes, and the ability to answer phone calls is classified as a dangerous permission. Browsing on the web has now been made more secure with the integration of the Google Safe Browsing API.

Android Oreo succeeds Android Nougat, which was released in August 2016. As expected, the first phone to get Android 8.0 is the Google Pixel and the Google Pixel XL, on the day of the launch itself. Android Oreo has been confirmed to land on the OnePlus 5, as well as the OnePlus 3 and 3T later this..

Nokia 6 review

Nokia 6 design, display, interface and performance

Update: The Nokia 6 release date window has been announced, at least for the US. It will launch on July 10 and be sold through Amazon for $179, according to HMD Global. We’re still waiting for the UK release date, but here’s our hands-on Nokia 6 review in the meantime.

Nokia has returned! The once-iconic smartphone brand is back in business thanks to Finnish startup HMD signing a 10-year deal to stick the Nokia name on smartphones and tablets, and the Nokia 6 is the current top dog in its initial lineup of four devices.

Nokia’s trio of new Android smartphones (the fourth is the feature phone 3310 reboot) were launched at MWC 2017 and focus on a premium build, a simple UI and affordable price tags – and early indications are positive as we got to grips with the new Nokia 6.

The phone boasts a 5.5-inch Full HD display, Snapdragon 430 chipset, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, 16MP rear camera, 8MP front camera, fingerprint scanner and a 3,000mAh battery.
